In James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's timeless modern classic Into the Woods,  the stories of Cinderella and her prince, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Jack of the infamous beanstalk, and a cast of other cutesy fairytale characters meet on the stage—and find their stories intertwined in tales less tidy than we were led to believe. Fairy tales are shaded in the complex twists of before and after the "happily ever afters," and there are consequences to be had. 

Though dark and brooding, the Tony Award-winning book and score bring together real-life relevance with the visual and musical enchantment of childhood fairytales.
