Ione E. Burden Symposium
In a state whose history is laden with pirates and other colorful characters, it's no surprise that "Smugglers, Scoundrels, & Scalawags: Unveiling the Colorful Characters of Louisiana and the American South" is the subject of this year's Ione E. Burden Symposium. Distinguished speakers Dr. Samuel C. Hyde, Jr., Dr. Keagan LeJeune, and Del Hahn will present on these fascinating, often-corrupt worlds of Louisiana's past. 8 am–2:30 pm. $45; $30 for Friends of the Rural Life Museum at bontempstix.com. lsu.edu/rurallife.
