Bayou Sara: Used to Be
Jeanerette Museum 500 East Main Street, Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544
St. Francisville once overlooked a bustling port along the Mississippi River. But the mile of cotton warehouses, the extensive residential and commercial districts, and the hardworking immigrants who stood their ground through floods and fires—all are gone today. The town that was Bayou Sara is now a grove of weeping willows. Anne Butler, writer and former Country Roads editor, will speak on the ghost town at the Jeanerette Museum this afternoon: "Bayou Sara: Used to Be" draws from Butler's book of the same name. A signing will follow the presentation. 6 pm. jeanerettemuseum.com.
