Jazz Brunch
After a fifteen-year hiatus, Jazz Brunch returns to the LeJeune House in New Roads, on Sunday, April 7th, 2019, the site of the very first Historical Society Jazz Brunch almost 25 years ago. This promises to be a delightful outing on gorgeous grounds, featuring heritage plants that were grown in Louisiana gardens before 1860, and an ancient live oak called the Francois Samson Oak on the Live Oak Society Register.
Music will be provided by the Mike Esnault Trio, with featured vocalist Sarah Robinson.An Emmy Award-winning pianist and composer, Esnault has enjoyed success performing live, on television, cinema and radio, in addition to his triumphs as a recording artist.Mike and Sarah were most recently seen together in “Manship Theatre Celebrates the Great American Songbook” in Baton Rouge in August 2018.Sarah has performed with The Lira Ensemble in Chicago, a traditional Polish singing ensemble, and with Musika SamaSama, the Together Concert with Lea Solanga.She performs in various venues in Lafayette LA.
LeJeune House, owned by Randy Harelson and Richard Gibbs, is a Louisiana Creole style plantation home, dating back to the early 1800s, and has been featured in Louisiana Life, Southern Living and Garden & Gun. Guests will be welcome to enjoy a tour of the home prior to the brunch.
The Pointe Coupee Historical Society is a non-profit Louisiana Corporation whose mission is to foster interest in history, particularly that of Pointe Coupee Parish; encourage collection and preservation of objects and structures historically significant to Pointe Coupee Parish; encourage the study, preservation and practice of customs that define the culture and natural history of the parish; present educational and cultural programs to the citizens of Pointe Coupee for the enrichment of lives and the furthering of education; and maintain the Julien Poydras Museum and Arts Center for the benefit of the parish. Proceeds from the brunch will further the work of the Historical Society.
The brunch will begin at 11:30, where attendees can mingle over cocktails and southern cuisine. "Garden party" attire is encouraged. $125, $100 each with purchases of two or more. pointecoupeehistoricalsociety
