Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts 1419 Basin Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70116
The New Orleans Ballet Association closes its season with a performance by a major force in American dance since its 2014 debut—the company led by Jessica Lang. As one of today’s most prolific dancemakers working today, Lang created works last year for American Ballet Theatre and Pacific Northwest Ballet, and choreographed San Francisco Opera’s Aida. The program for this visit includes performances of The Calling, a solo masterpiece danced in a white dress, and the poignant Thousand Yard Stare, which honors veterans and those touched by the aftermath of war. Created for the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the finale Tesseracts of Time is Lang’s collaboration with architect Steven Holl, and features wild geometric structures and otherworldly projections. 8 pm. Tickets from $24. nobadance.com.
