"Look in Here," 2019

When Jim Richard plans a painting, he starts with a stack of glossy house and home magazines, marking where his eye catches an intriguing wall treatment here, a remarkable piece of period furniture there. Then, using his signature method of Flashé paint on non-absorbant Yupo paper, he fuses the pieces together to conceive of an elegant, stylized interior. Finally, he adorns his rooms with miniature works of his own fine art in painting and sculpture. The result is simultaneously convincing and dreamscape, high-end and just a little dissonant.
