Josephine Sacabo: TAGGED
to
A Gallery for Fine Photography 241 Chartres Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
Passersby might wince at graffiti, but is it due to the building blemished or the woman taunted with spray-paint obscenities? With results at once visceral and surreal, photographer Josephine Sacabo expands her exploration of New Orleans graffiti, shifting from the Mexican Catholic iconography on display to the misogyny bleeding at the edges. In this new series of twenty photogravures at A Gallery for Fine Photography, Sacabo emblazons "tags" across the soft, bare bodies of women, making clear the violence still at work in verbal attacks. Meet Sacabo at a book signing and artist reception, December 8, 4 pm–7 pm. The exhibit will remain on view until January 12, 2019. agallery.com.
