Katrina Andry: The Promise of the Rainbow Never Came
The artist's first major solo exhibition in Louisiana
to
LSU Museum of Art 100 Lafayette Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
LSU Museum of Art presents the first major solo show of New Orleans native and LSU alumna Katrina Andry’s work in Louisiana. Katrina Andry: The Promise of the Rainbow Never Came includes large-scale color reduction prints and a mixed media, site specific installation for exhibition. This new body of work offers an alternate mythology for African men, women, and children thrown overboard during the Middle Passage, but also suggests the lingering violence against people of color. Andry’s series considers the promise of the rainbow—the promise not to be destroyed again by water—unfulfilled for people of color who continue to endure violence and erasure three hundred years after the initial journey toward enslavement. lsumoa.org.
