Leisure Cooking Classes at LCI

You don't have to be a career chef to be a student at Louisiana Culinary Institute. Their leisure cooking class program has something for just about everyone, and almost always include take-home results. Here are the classes offered in January, all of which take place in the state-of-the-art cooking facilities on LCI's campus. lci.edu or (225) 769-8820.
January 14
Super Bowl Appetizers: Chef Jeanne Mancuso leads the way to crafting the perfect spread of Super Bowl party munchies, including New Orleans brown butter smoked sausage kolaches, buffalo chicken sliders with homemade rolls, and football shaped cake pops. 5 pm–8 pm. $125.
Sushi 101: Chef Colt Patin will show you the ins and outs of sushi—from its origins to cooking rice to rolling it all up. Try your hand at California Rolls, Crunchy Rolls, Philadelphia Rolls, and Spicy Tuna Rolls. 5 pm–8 pm. $125.
New Orleans Doberge Cake: Six layers of cake plus five layers of creamy filling equals: Doberge! Chef Chris Nicosia will demonstrate how to craft this historical delicacy, using either vanilla, chocolate, lemon, or strawberry filling, all topped with a thin chocolate glaze. 5 pm–8 pm. $125.
January 28
Intro to Wine Pairing: Chef Kevin Foil will let you in on the sometimes-intimidating secrets of the palate when it comes to wine pairings. Dishes will be served with accompanying small samplings of wines to examine and evaluate which wines work best with each dish. 5 pm–8 pm. $125.
