Marigny Opera House 725 St Ferdinand Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117
Moscow Nights, the New Orleans organization dedicated to celebrating the cultural riches of Russia, will take a trip back to wartime with its newest production, Longing for Peace and Home in the Songs of the Second World War. The musical theater production, featuring international artists such as Theresa Tova and Aelita, spotlights hauntingly beautiful Russian wartime songs, which were well known in the former Soviet Union but seldom heard outside. Jewish songs written and performed in wartime ghettos from Warsaw to Vilnius, and sung in resistance camps, are also featured. October 27 at the Gates of Prayer Synagogue in Metairie and October 28 and 29 at the Marigny Opera House. 8 pm both evenings. moscownightsus.com.
