Lunchtime Lecture: The Aillet House
West Baton Rouge Museum 845 North Jefferson Avenue, Port Allen, Louisiana 70767
Moving a family is arduous enough; imagine taking the entire house with you. For this month's Lunchtime Lecture at the West Baton Rouge Museum, architectural historian and restoration specialist Sid Gray will present "The Move and Restoration of the Historic c. 1830 Aillet House." The small Creole plantation home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was relocated from its original River Road location near Brusly to the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum in 1990; Gray served as historic building consultant for the project and will discuss his role in the restoration. Noon. Free and open to the public. westbatonrougemuseum.com.
