Groovy Movie at Cité des Arts: "Safety Last!"
Cité des Arts 109 Vine Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501
On the first Monday of the month, Cité des Arts welcomes all to join in for a new movie series titled The Groovy Movies, featuring the best in classic comedies, dramas, film noir, and forgotten treasures from the history of national and international cinema. This month, settle in to watch Harold Lloyd’s 1923 silent comedy feature film classic Safety Last!
Harold Lloyd was declared “the third genius” by silent film historian Kevin Brownlow in a documentary by the same name, and his films out grossed his more famous contemporaries' Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton—and like Keaton, Harold Lloyd performed his own stunts. Safety Last! is best remembered for the iconic image of Lloyd dangling from a clock tower twelve stories above a Los Angeles street.
The show begins at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at citedesarts.org, at the door, or by calling 337-291-1122.
