Mardi Gras at Lafourche Parish Libraries

Lafourche Parish Public Libraries are going green, and purple, and gold for Carnival season, bringing throws of free events for all ages. See the schedule below:
February 5: Paint Your Own Fleur de Lis at the Bayou Branch Library, 1:30 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 5: Adults can create a Mardi Gras wreath to deck out their door at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 10:30 am. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 5: Adults can enter the Mardi Gras spirit by learning how to paint their own fleur-de-lis at the Bayou Blue Branch Library, 1:30 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 10: Adults can craft a festive Mardi Gras tabletop decoration at the Choctaw Branch Library, 10:30 am.
February 11: Adults can celebrate Carnival season by creating a Mardi Gras centerpiece at the Golden Meadow Branch Library, 1 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 11: Adults can learn how to make masquerade-style masks using papier-mâché at the Lockport Branch Library, 2 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 12: Tweens and teens ages 8 to 18 can create a Mardi Gras-themed mask to celebrate the season at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 4:30 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 13: Kids ages 4 to 12 are invited to craft Mardi Gras crowns at the Lockport Branch Library, 4:30 pm.
February 15: Teens ages 13 to 18 can create a unique Mardi Gras unicorn shirt at the Thibodaux Branch Library, 1:30 pm. Participants need to provide their own t-shirt. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 18: Slime lovers of all ages are invited to create some festive Mardi Gras slime at the Bayou Blue Branch Library, 4 pm. Registration required in person, by phone, or online.
February 18: Children ages 0 to 8 are invited to a Mardi Gras story time at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 10:30 am.
February 19: Kids ages 4-12 can also get in on the mask-making fun by making one from their own handprints at the Lockport Branch Library, 4 pm.
February 19: Adults can learn decoupage techniques to create a lovely Mardi Gras table centerpiece at the Gheens Branch Library, 11 am.
February 19: Kids and teens are invited to make a colorful Mardi Gras bead coaster at the Larose Branch Library at the Larose Branch Library, 4:15 pm.
February 19: The Krewe of Bookworms will roll at the Warren J.Harang Jr. Municipal Auditorium, at 10 am. Line-up begins at 9:15 am. Participants are encouraged to decorate and bring their own parade “float,” as well as throws. No motorized vehicles are allowed. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will be held in the Harang Auditorium.
February 20: Story time and crafts for kids at the Larose Branch Library, 1 pm.
February 20: The Krewe of Once Upon a Time’s annual story time parade will roll at the Lockport Bayouside Park at 10:30 am. No motorized vehicles are allowed. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will be held in the Lockport Branch Library.
February 20: Tweens and teens ages 8 to 16 can get in the Mardi Gras spirit by creating unique purple, green, and gold bracelets at the Gheens Branch Library, 3:30 pm.
February 21: The Krewe de les Petites Enfants will roll in the South Lafourche branch parking lot on February 21 at 10:30 am. Children who would like to participate in the parade are welcome to come in costume and bring their own throws. Participants can walk or they can ride in decorated wagons or strollers. No motorized vehicles are allowed. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will be held in the library.
