Martin Payton: Legacy of Form

New Orleans artist Martin Payton's practice is rooted in his family's deep lineage in the world of New Orleans music. His large-scale steel, found-object sculptures are infused with the influences of improvisation and African polyrhythms central to the Crescent City's jazz traditions, as well as the ancient practices of African blacksmithing.
