Memoirs of the Lower 9th Ward Opening Reception

America's only city-wide arts triennial, Prospect New Orleans, is unveiling the second installation from its Artists of Public Memory Commission, Memoirs of the Lower 9th Ward, created by New Orleans artists Keith Calhoun and Chandra McCormick. The unveiling will take place on the neutral ground between Andry and Flood streets on the 5400 block of N. Claiborne Ave beginning at 4 pm. An opening reception featuring a musical performance by Herlin Riley will follow at the Katrina National Memorial Foundation Museum from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Then, the evening will wrap up with a second line parade ending at 8 pm.
Memoirs of the Lower 9th Ward will be open to the public through June 2024 at the neutral ground on N. Claiborne Ave between Andry St. and Flood St. Free. prospectneworleans.org.
