National Shrimp Festival

Gulf Shores Public Beach Highway 59 and Highway 182, Gulf Shores, Alabama 36542
For fifty years, Gulf Shores on the second weekend of October has been the place to be for the annual Shrimp Festival—a clever way to keep tourists at the beach after Labor Day. And you can see why the crowd stays: Two stages of entertainment, a Children's Village, vendors for fine art and crafts, competitions for restaurants, singing, and sand castles, and shrimp for days. An expected throng of 250,000 will roam the beach this weekend, happily pretending summer hasn't yet ended. myshrimpfest.com.
