Nellie Fest

Originally from Lake Charles, Nellie Lutcher was an early R&B sensation, who at the age of twelve played with Ma Rainey before moving to Los Angeles and becoming nationally famous after signing with Capital Records. This April, a brand new festival in her home town is all about celebrating her, held at Nellie Lutcher Memorial Park, just down the street from where she grew up. The inaugural Nellie Fest will feature live music, food trucks, and the unveiling of a new mural featuring the park and event's namesake. 1 pm–5 pm. Free.
