Rosedown State Historic Site 12501 Highway 10, Saint Francisville, Louisiana 70775
In keeping with the season, Rosedown Plantation SHS is decked with historic, nineteenth century-style Christmas décor. This being the era prior to the advent of LED light strings and Hobby Lobby, that would have meant natural greenery garlands, fruit and nut displays, cypress and cedar wreaths, and potted poinsettia blooms. Just in time for the holidays, the historic gardens fill with the colors of Christmas. The twenty-eight-acre gardens are naturally ornamented with every shade of red and green from the countless varieties of blooming camellias, assorted types of holly, Christmas berry, nandina, and pyracantha. 9 am–5 pm daily. Guided tours are provided on the hour, beginning at 10 am, with tours starting until 4 pm. Closed on Christmas Day. (225) 635-3110 or lastateparks.com.
- December 7–9: In addition to the regular daily tours of the antebellum home, Rosedown Plantation SHS will also be on display during the annual Christmas in the Country festival. The popular community event, held in the historic town of St. Francisville, will feature the arrival of Santa, a live nativity, vintage dancers, strolling carolers and gospel singers, and the children’s Christmas parade. stfrancisvillefestivals.com/features/christmas-in-the-country.
