Ogden After Hours January Concerts
Ogden Museum of Southern Art 925 Camp Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
Supporting the assertion that in New Orleans, music is everywhere, the art galleries at the Ogden Museum ring with music each Thursday, when the popular Ogden After Hours evening concert series brings Southern musicians to entertain and Southern music scholars to elucidate. Each OAH includes an art activity for kids in the Education Gallery, a cash-bar, and entrance to all the galleries. Featured this month are:
• January 5: Walter Wolfman Washington and the Roadmasters. Walter Wolfman Washington combines his soulful voice and guitar mastery with R&B, funk, jazz, and blues.
• January 12: Alex McMurray. Sometimes compared to Tom Waits, Alex McMurray's throaty voice and harrowing sketch are mainstays in the scene of downtown New Orleans.
• January 26: Dave Jordan. Over the course of nearly twenty years and three bands, roots rock songwriter Dave Jordan, frontman of Juice, has produced or co-produced six albums, played a few thousand shows nationwide, and has recorded with Art Neville, Anders Osborne, Joe Krown, Bill Summers, and more.
6 pm–8 pm. 925 Camp Street, Goldring Hall. Free for museum members; $13.50 nonmembers. ogdenmuseum.org.
