EMPIRE Opening Reception
Newcomb Art Museum - Tulane University Newcomb Circle, New Orleans, Louisiana 70118
Enjoy an art-filled Friday at Newcomb Art Museum on Tulane's Uptown campus as they celebrate the opening of their latest show! EMPIRE, an exhibition commissioned and presented by Newcomb Art Museum, A Studio in the Woods and Pelican Bomb, celebrates the New Orleans Tricentennial utilizing historical records, artifacts, and art culled from the various archives of Tulane University and crafted by LA-based artist collective Fallen Fruit. Inspired by the process of discovery, EMPIRE will explore the history of people and place in terms of cultural legacy, historical narrative, and social constructs. Through the lens of the diverse Tulane art and archives collections, the exhibition will reveal unlikely and, often, untold stories from New Orleans and Tulane’s past. The opening reception is free and open to the public. Artist talk begins at 6:30 pm, public reception featuring music, food, and drinks from 7:30 to 9 pm. newcombartmuseum.tulane.edu.
