Ulysses: An American Mythology
Manship Theatre 100 Lafayette Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
From the creative mind of Opéra Louisiane's own Artistic Director, Michael Borowitz, comes Ulysses: An American Mythology—a tale of homecoming and redemption. Set in the South in the early 1960s, Ulysses journeys home to find his wife pursued by his enemies and himself unrecognizable to her. Borowitz has adapted Monteverdi’s Ulysses for a gospel and R&B orchestra. A truly unique musical event, Ulysses is sung in the original Italian and stars bass-baritone and Opéra Louisiane favorite, Ivan Griffin, in the title role. 7:30 pm on Friday; 3 pm on Sunday at the Manship Theatre in the Shaw Center for the Arts. $18–$88.
