Orchid Show & Sale

The orchid family is the largest family of flowering plants, with 35,000 species and 150,000 hybrids. There’s something for everyone at the Orchid Show & Sale: big ones, little ones, short ones, tall ones, sweet smelling ones, stinky ones, beautiful ones, and weird ones. The event features a competition both for flowers and displays judged by accredited American Orchid Society judges. For the displays, both hobby and commercial exhibitors will work with flowers and plants to showcase the theme “Backyard Orchids.” Commercial vendors from across the Gulf Coast will have a wide variety of orchid plants for sale. Several plants will also be raffled. Winners will be selected at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon. Potting demonstrations will be held throughout the event. Visitors are invited to bring plants that need repotting, and experienced members of the Orchid Society will demonstrate how to do it. All repotting supplies will be provided by the Society.  9 am—5 pm, and July 10 from 10 am–4 pm. Free. batonrougeorchidsociety.
