New Orleans nursery/urban farming advocate Southbound Gardens will host Alan Booker of The Eldenbridge Institute today as he speaks about permaculture. Beginning in the '80s as a holistic design methodology for agricultural systems, permaculture has since grown into a global movement, creating a variety of regenerative systems that support human communities. It is based in the careful observation of nature and seeks to meet human needs while repairing and maintaining the health of ecosystems that support them. Booker's lecture and workshop, “Permaculture: Ecological Design for Farms and Homes,” will be held from 9 am–5 pm at the Zeitgeist Arts Center. $75–$85. Tickets are available at southboundgardens.com.
