Propagating Herb Plants for Your Garden
The Baton Rouge Unit of the Herb Society of America hosts this safely socially-distanced herb gardening class
Baton Rouge Garden Center 7950 Independence Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
You didn't hear it from us, but maybe from your mamma or your grandma: "Gardening is good for the soul." The first time you heard it, you may have rolled your eyes, but scientists have determined there is truth to the old wives' tale, after all. Nourishing plant life by digging in the dirt has been proven to have tangible health benefits. Arguably no one knows that better than the Herb Society, who are hosting a class on herb gardening and plant care. The Herb Society will provide expert instruction, good company, safely-distanced seating, fertile soil, and bottled water; they ask participants to come equipped with their own trowels and face masks. There will be a walk to the Sensory Garden nearby to gather herb clippings, so wear comfortable walking shoes, too. 9 am - noon at the Baton Rouge Garden Center. Free admission for Herb Society members; $5 for nonmembers. Contact Judy Hines to register: her email is herblady101@hotmail.com, phone is 219-508-6165.
