This summer, R.W. Norton Art Gallery presents two new exhibitions, on display now until August 4. Escape from urbanization with Pastoral Promises, exploring the depiction of idealized rural settings in 19th-century art, popular in Germany, England, France, and the U.S. These artworks feature serene landscapes and noble peasants, transporting viewers to a simpler, slower time with scenes of livestock and verdant hills. NATURALish, featuring author and illustrator Jared Chapman, showcases Chapman's whimsical and imaginative artwork, inspired by daydreams and doodles about nature's unanswered questions. Chapman is best known for his popular books like Vegetables in Underwear and Fruits in Suits. Gallery hours are Thursday—Sunday, 1 pm–5 pm. rwnaf.org.
