Randy Deaton on the Clementine Hunter Forgery Case
Main Library at Goodwood 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
A little over a decade ago, FBI Agent Randy Deaton of Alexandria was assigned to investigate what would later become one of the most famous art forgery cases of the century. Now a member of the United States Rapid Deployment Art Crime Team, Deaton will share the fascinating story of tracking down the infamous Clementine Hunter copycat, William Toye and of bringing justice to one of Louisiana's most beloved folk artists. Featured alongside Deaton's presentation, several (authentic!) Clementine Hunter paintings will be on display. The lecture will take place at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library's Main branch at 7 pm. Free to the public. ebrpl.com
