Restoration Roadshow
In light of the historic flooding that devastated south Louisiana in August, the Historic New Orleans Collection joins the West Baton Rouge Museum and Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser in hosting a "Restoration Roadshow" this Sunday at the Mall of Louisiana. THNOC held similar events following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
“The city of New Orleans knows all too well the challenges of rebuilding, and we know how difficult it is when treasured items are damaged,” said Jack Pruitt, THNOC’s director of development and community relations. “We are so appreciative of the help New Orleans and the surrounding areas received from our Louisiana neighbors back in 2005. We want to return the favor by supporting those same communities who are now in need themselves.”
Conservators on hand at the roadshow will examine and offer practical advice in regards to the following flood-damaged materials: books and paper documents, frames and mirrors, furniture, glass and ceramics, jewelry and metals, painting, photography, and textiles. Admission is free. The show runs from noon to 4 pm. hnoc.org.
