Salazar: Portraits of Influence in Spanish New Orleans
to
Ogden Museum of Southern Art 925 Camp Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
In conjunction with the Tricentennial celebration of New Orleans, Salazar: Portraits of Influence in Spanish New Orleans will tell the story of Josef Francisco Xavier de Salazar y Mendoza (c. 1750-1802), whose career spanned most of the Spanish administration of New Orleans. Thirty of Salazar's most relevant works will provide an intriguing window into Spanish colonial New Orleans. Salazar's works frame New Orleans as a site of mobility and transatlantic artistic exchange. The exhibit opens with a reception on March 8, 6 pm–8 pm, and remains on view until September 2. ogdenmuseum.org.
