Since 1980, Carol S. Gikas has served as the President and Executive Director of the Louisiana Art & Science Museum, shepherding the building and opening of the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium and Bert S. Turner Family Atrium as well as increasing membership and inspiring community support. Possibly her most tangible influence can be seen in the approximately 1,400 artworks that have come into the museum's collection during her thirty-eight year tenure, displaying a wide range of creative expression and cultural influences. A new exhibit in the Soupçon Gallery spotlights Gikas' role in accumulating the impressive permanent collection. The exhibit remains on view until January 20, 2019. lasm.org.
