September Films at the Manship
Manship Theatre 100 Lafayette Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
Don't lose the romance of actually going out to the theatre. Leave your Wi-Fi behind and head to downtown Baton Rouge. Each month, the Manship Theatre offers a slate of films, from new-release indies to modern classics and documentaries. Here's what's in store for September:
September 6: Grease (1978): A sanctioned singalong will have you swishing your imaginary poodle skirt and fretting over gold-hearted greaser Danny Zuko getting fresh at the drive-in all over again. Should we tell you more, tell you more? Happy to oblige—the show starts at 7 pm. $9.50.
September 7: The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl (2017): "Tonight I'm resolved to be led by fate," insists Otome, the fearless lead in this 2017 anime film. Follow the hard-drinking girl as she carouses through Kyoto—and root for the buttoned-up fellow who'd love to catch up with her. 7 pm. $9.50.
September 20: Star Trek IV (1986): Bless the Internet for erasing any stigma that comes with being a Trekkie. Set your phasers to stun and grab a seat for the fourth film installment—in which Kirk and the gang head back in time to 1986 San Francisco—at 7 pm. $7.50.
September 30: Madeline's Madeline (2018): When a theatre director encourages a young performer to weave her personal experiences and complicated relationship with her mother into her work, the resulting clash between theater and reality rattles through all three women's lives. 2pm. $9.50.
