Snow White
Williams Research Center 410 Chartres Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
For those most familiar with the Disney version, the idea of Snow White with no chirping princess or chanting dwarves is unthinkable. But the 1916 silent film is a classic in its own right. The Historic New Orleans Collection will screen the flick, starring Marguerite Clark—sister-in-law of THNOC founder L. Kemper Williams. French pianist Paul Gossot will provide live accompaniment, a kindness he does frequently for silent films at Musée D'Orsay in Paris. Please do not whistle while he works.
The event is presented as part of THNOC’s “Musical Louisiana: America’s Cultural Heritage” series, which examines different aspects of the state’s contributions to classical music. 4 pm at the Williams Research Center. Free; reservations suggested. thnoc.org.
