Baton Rouge, La Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70808
The City of St. George and the St. George Fire Department are partnering with the Greater Baton Rouge Parish Food Bank to collect non-perishable food donations to support our community during the COVID-19 crisis. The collection will take place on the weekends of May 2nd-3rd and May 16th-17th, but residents can also make monetary donations online, or they can drop their donations off to the nearest St. George Fire Department station. During the weekend of May 2-3, the St. George Fire Department and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will be rolling through neighborhoods mostly on the north and east side (Amite River side) of Airline Highway and those neighborhoods accessible from Airline, such as Briar Place and Woodridge. During the weekend of May 16-17, the St. George Fire Department and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will visit neighborhoods on the south and west side (Mississippi River side) of Airline Highway. Fire engines will leave each fire station at 10 am on Saturdays returning at 2 pm, and leaving at 12 pm on Sundays and returning at 4 pm.
Be advised, the St. George FireDepartment may get called to an emergency during the parade, in which case firefighters will pick up the route again after the emergency. A complete listing of which neighborhoods visited each weekend is available at stgeorgelouisiana.com and stgeorgefire.com.
