The Pianist of Willesden Lane
Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre 616 Saint Peter Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70116
On weekends at Le Petit Theatre this month, Mona Golabek will perform The Pianist of Willesden Lane, based on the book she herself wrote alongside Lee Coehn and adapted by Hersey Felder. Set in Vienna in 1938 and London during the Blitz, the play chronicles the true story of Golabek's mother, a young Jewish musician whose talent and dreams are interrupted by the Nazi regime.
A story infused with hope and inspired by the power of music, the San Francisco Chronicle described the play as "an astonishing tour de force". Performances will be held Thursdays–Saturdays at 7:30 pm, and on Sundays at 3 pm. $14–$55. lepetittheatre.com.
