2020 marks the centennial of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote for the first time in American history. The Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales is celebrating the monumental anniversary with a presentation by Dr. Catharine Jacquet from Louisiana State University, who will speak on the fight for women's suffrage and share primary sources, explaining the arguments for and against women's voting rights and their historical context.
