The Soul to Dare
to
Walter Anderson Museum of Art 510 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, Mississippi 39564
In a modern-day homage to the creative achievements of Mississippi women, the Walter Anderson Museum nods to a woman influential on its own legacy. The title of the museum's The Soul to Dare exhibition references an inscription by Annette McConnell Anderson, who first established the art colony that later became Shearwater, the center of Ocean Springs' flourishing arts community.
The Soul to Dare, the first of the museum's dedicated series of exhibitions celebrating remarkable women, features work by twelve members of the South Mississippi Arts League, and recognizes their contributions to contemporary art in the region.
The exhibition features work by artists: Pat Abernathy, Carolyn Busenlener, Paulette Dove, Kat Fitzpatrick, Sandra Halat, Carmen Lugo, Ann Madden, George Ann McCullough, Patt Odom, Cissy Quinn, and Norma Seward. The show will be on display from January 18–March 30. walterandersonmuseum.org.
