Theo Tobiasse: Textural Emergence
to
Masur Museum 1400 S Grand St, Monroe, Louisiana 71202
This selection of works represents the later years of this Holocaust survivor’s prolific and innovative career. Tobiasse’s work, influenced by surrealism, expressionism and modern primitivism, explored themes of mythology, biblical stories, exile and his own past combined to present rich metaphors for the twentieth century. His mix of techniques and mediums brings a richness and colorful emotional quality to these later works. The following events are taking place at the museum this month in conjunction with the exhibition:
January 13: Public reception with a Gallery Talk by Rabbi Judy Ginsberg. 6 pm.
January 27: Talk by Jackie Rosenberg, son of Holocaust survivor Sol Rosenberg. 6 pm.
