Tom Peyton Memorial Arts Festival

For over five decades, the Annual Tom Peyton Memorial Arts Festival has brought high quality arts programming and exhibits to Central Louisiana.
The festival's main exhibit, hosted at the First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, features more than eighty works of art by regional artists, and will open with a special reception on May 3 at 6 pm. Merit Awards and a gallery talk will be presented by juror Ross Jahnke. Also on exhibit will be the School of Art show, which displays the work of local students and their teachers, as well as a showcase of artists Michael and Leslie Elliott-Smith, titled Mind Over Matter.
Other festival programming includes: a worship service on May 5; an al fresco concert in the courtyard, featuring Smithfield Fair on May 10 from 6 pm–8 pm; and stop-motion animation workshops for children by Al Bohl on May 11.
