Uncorked!: A History of Wine in New Orleans
to
Williams Research Center 410 Chartres Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130
The Historic New Orleans Collection will present its sixth culinary symposium, and this year’s focus is on wine. Acclaimed culinary historian and author Jessica B. Harris will moderate the program, which will follow the history of wine from the late 18th century to the present, to show how New Orleanians have imported, served and imbibed through the centuries. After the talks, participants are invited to enjoy a light reception and a sampling of wines provided by the Bordeaux Wine Council, which sponsored the event. 10 am–2:30 pm at the Williams Research Center. $60; $50 for members.
On November 3, guests are invited to an optional wine dinner at Tableau. Cap off this weekend of wine appreciation with a five-course menu of French flavors and wine pairings to match. Symposium moderator Jessica B. Harris will enhance the experience with short talks between courses, and guests will sample a slate of Bordeaux selections from event sponsor the Bordeaux Wine Council. $100 general admission; $85 for symposium attendees. 6 pm at 616 St. Peter Street. hnoc.org.
