Victory Festival
Gallery 333 333 Monroe Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501
TownFolk, the nonprofit which serves residents of Lafayette's LaPlace neighborhood, presents the third annual Victory Festival—and the groundbreaking of the Victory Garden Pavillion. The Victory Garden was created in honor of the late Jillian Johnson, who, in 2015, was killed in the Lafayette movie theater shooting along with Mayci Breaux. Johnson dreamed of a Victory Garden—and over the past three years, neighborhood residents have built, planted, and harvested toward that goal. The groundbreaking of the pavilion will be celebrated with an art show and silent auction, food trucks, kids' activities, beer, and bands. Live music comes from New Natives Brass Band, Bluerunners, and Sweet Cecilia, with food from C'est Bon Manger Food Truck and Taco Sisters Freetown. Bayou Teche Brewing joins in the fun with a Victory Garden Post Prohibition Style Lager. Entrance to the festival is free; money raised from this event will facilitate the continued expansion and maintenance of the garden. Noon–6 pm at Gallery 333, on the corner of Monroe and Second Streets. facebook.com/victorygardenfestival.
