Vidalia Riverfront Carnival and Flea Market
Carni-Fall
to
Vidalia, La. Vidalia, Louisiana
Down by the riverside, the Vidalia Landing Riverfront on the Mississippi River makes a picturesque spot to admire the offerings of the river town's huge annual fall flea market. More than one hundred vendors, from as far away as Rhode Island and Oklahoma, swarm in each October to be part of one of the biggest open air markets in the region. It's nicely timed to coincide with the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race, happening high above the Natchez bluffs that rise above the opposite bank. Gates open on Friday at noon, at 8 am Saturday, and 9 am on Sunday. Among the crafts, merchandise, and jewelry you'll find are antiques, glass, toys, hardware, parts, tools, collectibles and interesting kinds of junk (one person's junk being, of course, another person's treasure). Food vendors offer regional treats, and carnival rides entertain as well. Free. Visit the vidaliaconventioncenter.com for up to date details.
