The Mississippi Museum of Art's exhibition, Visual Voices showcases the diversity of expression in contemporary Chickasaw art across a diverse array of media and multiple indigenous perspectives. While many of the artists hail from Oklahoma, the tribe's deep roots in Mississippi are celebrated in the cultural and historical traditions from which their work flows. This exhibit expands on the museum's bicentennial exhibition Picturing Mississippi, 1817–2017: Land of Plenty, Pain, and Promise, which features three pottery works by Chickasaw artist Joanna Underwood Blackburn. The exhibit will be on display through June 2. msmuseumart.org.
