Take a walking tour of the Carville Historic District this weekend, courtesy of the National Hansen's Disease Museum. Carville was once home to one of two leprosy (Hansen's Disease) hospitals in the nation. The Louisiana Leper Home, housed in an abandoned sugar plantation, opened in 1894 and promoted understanding, treatment, and identification of Hansen's Disease. Participants should be able to walk up a flight of stairs. Rain or shine under covered walkways.
