The Baton Rouge Civil War Round Table is behind this two-day symposium, bringing a series of speakers to consider the topic War in the West: Splitting the Confederacy. They include:
• Christopher L. Kolakowski - “If This is Hell, I Am In It”: The Battles of Fall 1862”
• Don Frazier PhD – Do Something! The War on the West Bank
• Matt Atkinson – Vicksburg: A Campaign for the Ages
• Dale Phillips – The Capture of New Orleans
• Bertram Hayes - Davis Special Guest speaker: The life of Jefferson Davis
Things begin with a Friday evening meet-and-greet from 6:30 pm–9 pm, with live period music courtesy of Jim and James Linden Hogg, hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. Saturday's symposium runs from 9 am–5 pm, and also boasts book and relic vendors, a silent auction, Port Hudson relic display, and photographer Bruce Shultz taking tintype photographs on-site.
