VanGuard Gallery 1469 Laurel St, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
For the seventh year, Baton Rouge's VanGuard Gallery will host its themed arts exhibition in support of Bethany Centre Primary School in Uganda, which serves over 600 disadvantaged children, many orphaned by the AIDs epidemic or living with family members suffering from the disease.
This year's exhibition is focusing on raising awareness of the barriers schoolgirls at the Bethany Centre face in getting an education. Local and regional artists will share their impressions on this year's theme, Water Ways in various mediums. All proceeds will go towards improving economic opportunities, health, and education in Uganda.
For the exhibition's opening reception, Bethany Centre Primary School's founder, former international student Peter Kiwanuka, will come from Uganda to be in attendance. Refreshments will be provided. 5 pm–8 pm. Admission is free, and art will be for sale. (225) 343-2211.
