Women of Note

Most of the major figures recognized as seminal to the formation of early jazz have been men, but that doesn't mean women haven't contributed, and a new exhibit, Women of Note, highlights women in the evolution of New Orleans jazz. Lil Hardin, Sweet Emma Barrett, The Boswell Sisters, Blue Lu Barker and many more are featured in this exhibit honoring women and their jazz and their art, and asks what it means to be female in a field where men are given more credit.
