"You Can't Hide the Sun": Ron Bechet and Hannah Chalew at Other Plans Gallery

In an exhibition at the new Other Plans Gallery in New Orleans's Tremé neighborhood, the work of artists Hannah Chalew and Ron Bechet commune in an exploration of the ways in which Louisiana culture is entangled in legacy, a dying environment, a history of enslavement, and a resolute wildness in nature. Chalew's scultpural expressions of the realities that define the Anthropocene age entwine with tensions in Bechet's improvisational mark-making, which explores the layers of incomprehensibility in the human experience.
