Time for my annual reminder that one of the most magical times to visit Orlando is in the
weeks right after Thanksgiving, and right before the main Christmas holidays. The theme parks are ablaze with holiday splendor, but crowds are down, and so are airfares. Right now Frontier has a sale with $49 one-way fares from New Orleans there on select dates in December. Southwest also has a sale with one-way fares starting at $79. Both have handy booking calendars that show you the entire month so you can pick the cheapest days to travel. Which is the better deal depends on how lightly you can pack. Frontier allows only a small “personal item.” I have a gym bag that fits those dimensions in which I can pack lightly for several days. But it you need to check a bag that will cost you $30 each way. And, by the way, while you’re thinking about this, keep an eye on Frontier’s website. They frequently do flash sales that could drop this fare even more.
