If you’re looking to find some good deals or just like the scavenger-hunt thrill of looking for a cool find, set the weekend of October 6 and 7 aside to spend some time at the eleventh annual Breaux Bridge Citywide Garage Sale.
In this case, citywide really means citywide; while the main campus of the event will be in downtown Breaux Bridge, every road and street heading into town will have residents selling some of their old-but-good treasures. Past years have seen over ten thousand participants; so while there’s plenty of competition, there are also plenty of great buys. This sale is a great opportunity for treasure hunters: whatever you’re looking for, you’ll find examples at the sale.
To help you plan your attack more efficiently, an official map and guide to the sale will be available, marking not only sale locations but also which day these locations plan to be active and what each will offer for sale. With this guide in hand you can easily pass an entertaining day, and you can take a break and refuel your energy at one of our local restaurants. And since this is a project of the Breaux Bridge Garden Club, all proceeds go to the beautification of this Cajun gem.
The sale officially takes place from 8 am to 4 pm, but it might be worth stopping by earlier; Raymond said many people get so into the spirit that they begin their sales early; the most dedicated shoppers start hitting the pavement at about 4 on Friday … that’s 4 am.
