Books Along the Teche Literary Festival

This spring, celebrate Dave Robicheaux's hometown and the works of great Southern writers

The streets of New Iberia may often seem sedate to an onlooker, but savvy readers need only look as far as James Lee Burke's acclaimed Dave Robicheaux series to imagine gritty intrigue lurking around every corner. The Books Along the Teche Literary Festival, held April 6—8, 2018, celebrates the beloved character's (and Burke's) stomping grounds of Iberia Parish, as well as the works of other writers who call the South home.

This literary festival may center on a fictional detective, but the weekend's entertainment and events are very real. From the literati to the party-hearty (and we know Louisiana draws plenty of both), there's something for everyone. See New Iberia through Robicheaux's eyes with Dave's Haunts and Jaunts Tour, then take in Hollywood's view at a screening of In the Electric Mist. An academic symposium presented by the University of Louisiana Lafayette will whet intellectual appetites, but don't forget to feed your stomach too with the Tastes Along the Teche Food Demo and the many other tantalizing opportunities to sample Acadiana's famous cuisine.

Impatient to get your Dave Robicheaux fix? You're in luck—Burke's latest in the series, Robicheaux: A Novel will be released on January 2, 2018. If voracious readers have finished that one by the time the festival has rolled around, the Authors, Artisans & Aromas Fair will be packed with books and signings by local authors and much more. And any lover of Southern literature must be sure not to miss the Great Southern Writer Symposium on Saturday, April 7, featuring nationally renowned author Ernest J. Gaines.

Tickets are available separately for individual events, or a complete bundled pass is available to help you make the most of the weekend.  Visit BooksAlongTheTecheLiteraryFestival.com for tickets and a complete schedule of events.
