Tupelo’s holiday season officially gets underway with the 74th annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade. Rolling at 6 pm on December 2 with the theme “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” North Mississippi’s largest parade truly offers a one-of-a-kind experience in downtown Tupelo packed with family fun for all ages.

Tupelo Ballet presents “The Nutcracker” on December 3—4 at the Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center. Celebrating its 40th anniversary season, Tupelo Ballet partners with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to present this holiday favorite. This year the company offers three opportunities to watch the adventures of Clara and her Nutcracker prince.

Christmas with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra delivers silvery sounds of the season in Tupelo. One of the region’s finest musical performances, this annual holiday program features choruses from Itawamba Community College, Northeast Mississippi Community College, and the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Children’s Chorus. Held December 10 at the Civic Auditorium, the program promises many holiday favorites, and some new versions of timeless classics, too. 

There’s an array of events planned at Tupelo’s Cadence Bank Arena to spread holiday cheer, too. Public ice skating returns to the Cadence Bank Arena November 25—January 14. Season skate passes are available, or grab friends and family for an impromptu skating session. Ice skate rentals are included with each session. The electrifying stage spectacular, Cirque Dreams Holidaze brings all the pageantry of a Cirque du Soleil show to the Arena on December 8.

Ready to ring in the New Year at Tupelo’s New Year’s Eve Party? The annual event presents a diverse line-up of bands on two different stages in downtown Tupelo. KidsFest kicks off the night at 6 pm with a DJ dance party and fun activities for younger revelers. The party kicks into high gear with an entertainment line-up jam-packed with songs to keep everyone dancing until midnight. The DJ from Al Kapone starts the party on the Broadway Stage at 7 pm, with Al Kapone to follow at 8:15 pm. The Band US takes over the Fairpark Stage at 9 pm, with Almost Famous headlining the Broadway Stage at 10 pm. The year comes to a close with Party Planet on the Fairpark Stage from 11 pm, with a countdown to midnight with fireworks and a ball drop.
